Many states have laws exempting parents from providing medical care to their children if it doesn’t agree with their religious beliefs.
Arizona, Connecticut and Washington state all have provisions that specifically exempt those who practice the religion of Christian Science from child abuse and neglect laws. The religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses also preaches against certain forms of medical treatment.
