PHOENIX – With MLB’s Opening Day just around the corner, the Arizona Diamondbacks hosted their annual “What’s New at Chase” featuring a glimpse of the upcoming promotional giveaways and a sneak peek of the revamped menu for the upcoming 2025 season.
Just as important, the event also addressed ballpark renovations, which was a topic of concern during the offseason.
Diamondbacks president and CEO Derrick Hall said that long-standing roof issues at Chase Field have been fixed ahead of the regular season, which begins March 27 when Arizona hosts the Chicago Cubs for a four-game series. The ballpark’s air conditioning system continues to be a work in progress, but Hall stressed the importance of providing a comfortable environment for fans during the hot summer months.
Beyond the immediate improvements, Hall expressed optimism about Chase Field’s future possibilities, particularly with the expected passing of House Bill 2704.

House Bill 2704 gives promise to the Diamondbacks funding, as it would repurpose Chase Field’s employee income and state taxes into stadium improvements. It has already been accepted by the House of Representatives, and now waits to go through the Senate committee for approval.
Hall sees even greater changes in the coming years, which will improve the stadium experience for both players and fans.
“This is now five or six years that we’ve done this and look at how it’s grown,” Hall said. “What’s going to be great about ‘What’s New at Chase’ is when HB 2704 passes and we start improving this building and get to showcase what we’re doing. We won’t be standing in the entry and talking about food and promo. It’ll be ‘Let’s go look at this new club or let’s see the new scoreboard or video board.’
“That’s what I’m excited about for this event and I’m very enthusiastic about the upcoming season … There’s good expectations for all the good reasons.”

The Diamondbacks are keen to recover from an 89-73 finish that saw them fall short of the postseason last season. Luis Gonzalez, a former Diamondback who is now senior advisor to the president & CEO, is optimistic about the new players on the squad as they want to contend for a postseason berth in 2025.
“For us, it’s all about change all the time,” Gonzalez said. “We know in today’s society, everyone is always trying to do something new, something different … It’s all about social media and things like that, so having events like this showing our promotions, and having influencers out here for the food is creating content and a lot of interest for our fans.”
The annual “What’s New at Chase” event was a reminder of how the Diamondbacks are always evolving, from the latest stadium renovations to the exciting new culinary selections. Gonzalez underlined how crucial it is to remain current and relevant to keep Chase Field supporters interested in both the game and the fan experience.
“We brought in some good guys via trade and free agency, and that has mixed into the perfect group of guys that can create a winning atmosphere for the fans,” Gonzalez said. “That’s why we have to do our part and make sure events like this can get the fans to support this team.”
