Arizona musical brings Dreamer’s story to New York

An Arizona-born musical is on its way to become an off-Broadway production this spring. "¡Americano!" is based on the true story of Tony Valdovinos, who came to Arizona as a child illegally. The story follows his journey to find purpose after he discovers the truth about his citizenship status.

Lizbet Flores expects to graduate in December 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications and a minor in business studies. Flores, who has reported for The State Press, is working for the Phoenix news bureau.
