Welcome to Cronkite News’ first Audio Hackathon!

Get ready to cue your inner creator! Starting March 8, you’ll have a chance to learn how fun and easy it is to build your own audible commands and designs that make up a skill on Amazon’s Alexa. Then submit your skill as part of the Audio Hackathon to compete for some awesome prizes including a chance to win an Echo Show!

The Audio Hackathon is open to all Arizona State University students, and is being hosted by Cronkite News, which is a part of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.


Here’s how to participate

March 8-9, 2021: Register below to attend a 60-minute virtual workshop starting at 9:30 a.m. will get you ready to develop a smart device skill. ASU’s University Technology Office will lead the training and help you learn how easy and fun it is to develop a skill. Once you register, we will send you a Zoom link to attend the training. Can’t make it? Don’t worry. We’ll post one of the trainings on this site.

March 12: Submit your final skill for judging by 5 p.m. MST.
March 19: Judges will announce the three winners, who will receive Echo Shows.
