The Coyotes may have left, but Phoenix hockey continues to grow without them

After the Arizona Coyotes departed in 2024, metro Phoenix hockey fans continue to keep up the interest for the sport. This includes growing the game at the high school level —with the Arizona High School Boys Hockey Division 1 championship at Mullett Arena — along with a coalition to bring the NHL back to the Valley.

Mihir Sinhasan expects to graduate in spring 2026 with a bachelor’s degree in sports journalism. Sinhasan covered the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris for Arizona PBS/Cronkite News as an on-camera reporter last year.
