TEMPE – As the blazing heat rose above 100 degrees for last Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. kickoff at Mountain America Stadium, ASU football fans left no question about activating the Valley, the program’s mantra for building excitement around the team.

Colorado coach Deion Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes were in town and stood on the opposite sideline of Kenny Dillingham’s Sun Devils in front of the second straight home sellout.

The Sun Devils would come up short yet again, 27-24, against the Buffaloes on a late go-ahead field goal, but the message is still clear: These Sun Devils are here to play and the support of the program is at full strength.

Take a look back at the in-game action, atmosphere and the stars on and off the field as the Sun Devils enter their bye week.

Before kickoff, Sanders got in the groove with a little dance to artist Ciara’s classic song, “1, 2 Step.”

After Deion’s dance, he and the Buffaloes were escorted to the locker room to prepare for the afternoon kickoff.

ASU started off with the opening possession and completed a 66-yard drive for the game’s first score, courtesy of Trenton Bourget’s rushing touchdown.

Shedeur Sanders and the Buffaloes offense would take the field, but the Sun Devil defense proved tough causing a three-and-out, aided by this sack by Prince Dorbah.

Colorado would eventually get things rolling with a fourth-and-1 rushing touchdown by Xavier Weaver.

Bourget and the offense would take the field once more. This time Melquan Stovall and Cam Skattebo were the highlights of the drive, with Stovall planting two Colorado defenders in the ground with aggressive stiff arms – including Sanders’ son, Shilo Sanders – which led to a timeout and a Buffs huddle.

Later in the game, Colorado led 24-17 with three minutes and 26 seconds remaining for ASU to answer. Late-game heroics came in the form of an unlikely subject.

Texas transfer Troy Omeire, who prior to the game had one catch for a touchdown on the season, leaped and brought down the game-tying score to ignite hope among the ASU faithful.

But Javon Antonio, who caught his first touchdown on the season earlier that night, broke out for a huge 43-yard play to bring the Buffaloes within field-goal range.
