PHOENIX – It’s been a typical early-spring week in metro Phoenix, with dramatic temperature variations and stiff winds for several days. But a low pressure system will cool things down Friday and bring us a slight chance of rain.
Temperatures will top out in the mid-70s Friday; look for showers from 2 to 7 p.m. The storm system should push its way east by 4 a.m. Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Valley’s air quality has returned to a moderate rating, thanks to wind speeds dropping from 25 mph to a range of 5 to 15 mph. Winds are expected to be light over the weekend.
The Maricopa County Department of Air Quality warns that high winds kick up dust and allergens, presenting challenges for those with respiratory diseases. However, stagnant air also is a concern because smoke and hazardous particles linger airborne, which is dangerous to those with compromised lungs.
