This week’s top-performing Cronkite News broadcast reports ranged from coverage of immigration issues to how Phoenix preschools are improving ways of teaching young students.

Cronkite News reporter Adriana De Alba covers Phoenix businesses participating in nationwide “A Day without Immigrants” protests, while Alexa Stueckrath reported on the Phoenix City Council vote to deny a petition to make Phoenix a sanctuary city.

This week in the Cronkite News education beat, reporter Kassidy McDonald traveled to two Valley preschools — one that has adopted a dual-language program and another that has a nature-based learning program. Ashley Holcombe also reported on a group of high school students who came together to speak out about environmental concerns.

Reporter Tyler Fingert examined the rising gun confiscations by the TSA at Sky Harbor, and Danielle Kernkamp gave viewers a look at Roosevelt Row, where the community was “painting for peace” this week.

Finally, Morgan Wheeler reported on the potential future of recycled wastewater becoming Arizona’s drinking water, and in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, reporter Drew Marine covered a warning from APS about balloons that may strike power lines.
