Artificial intelligence is a powerful tool that, when used with strong oversight and an eye on ethical considerations, can further our journalistic mission.
Cronkite News is a product of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, and ASU embraces AI as a tool to enhance collective creativity and problem-solving, not as a replacement for human intelligence.
Cronkite News aims to do just that through responsible, transparent use of AI tools. That can include data analysis; fact-checking and fairness review; and audio, video and image editing.
Using AI tools to generate content without proper attribution is considered a violation of the ASU Academic Integrity Policy.
If a story makes substantial use of AI, we will disclose how it was used. Faculty reviews all work before publication or broadcast.
